BYO Modem/Router Configuration
Prerequisites:
- Your modem/router is plugged in and powered on.
- The modem/router is connected to your computer using an Ethernet cable. Ensure the cable is plugged into one of the LAN ports on the modem/router.
- Alternatively, you can connect your computer to the modem/router wirelessly using the WiFi details provided with your device.
Tip
You can usually find the default WiFi username/password on the bottom of the modem/router or in the user manual.
Please note that you may not have internet access even after connecting to the modem/router if it hasn’t been fully configured by your provider.
All modems/routers sent from your internet provider may come preconfigured for immediate connection.
Accessing the Interface
The default IP address of your modem/router is typically either 192.168.1.1
or 192.168.0.1
.
- Open your web browser and enter the default IP address in the address bar.

Use the default login credentials to access the management interface:
- Username:
admin
- Password:
admin
- Username:
Warning
It is highly recommended that you change these login credentials to enhance security.
Click Login to access the interface.
Configuring for NBN FTTN
Prerequisites:
- Fibre to the Node (FTTN) NBN connection provided by your ISP.
- Your modem/router supports VDSL.
FTTN Setup
- From the homepage of your modem/router's interface, navigate to the Internet or WAN settings.
- Select Create New Connection or a similar option.
- Enter the following information:
- Description: (For your reference only)
- Internet Service: Choose 'VDSL'.
- Connection Type: Choose 'PPPoE'.
- Username: Enter the username provided by your ISP.
- Password: Enter the password provided by your ISP.
- 802.1P: Leave unchanged (usually
-1
or blank). - VLAN Tag: Leave unchanged (unless advised by your ISP).
Tip
If you do not know your username and password, contact your internet provider.
- Click Apply/Save.
If everything is set up correctly, you should have internet access within 60 seconds. You’ll see the modem/router’s DSL and Internet lights stabilize.
Configuring for NBN FTTP or HFC
Prerequisites:
- Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) NBN connection provided by your ISP.
- Your modem/router supports Ethernet WAN.
FTTP or HFC Setup
- Navigate to the Internet or WAN settings from the modem/router's homepage.
- Select Create New Connection or a similar option.

Enter the following details:
- Description: (For your reference only)
- Internet Service: Choose 'Ethernet WAN'.
- Connection Type: Choose 'PPPoE'.
- Username: Enter the username provided by your ISP.
- Password: Enter the password provided by your ISP.
- 802.1P: Leave unchanged (usually
-1
or blank). - VLAN Tag: Leave unchanged (unless advised by your ISP).

Click Apply/Save.
Once connected correctly, you should have internet access within 60 seconds. The connection lights on your modem/router will indicate the status.
WiFi Settings
Most modems/routers come preconfigured with WiFi, and the default username/password can be found: - On the WiFi security card provided with the device. - On a label on the modem/router.
Warning
Note: If you’ve changed your WiFi name or password, the default details will no longer apply.
Changing Your WiFi Name and Password
- Log into the modem/router’s management interface.
- Navigate to the Wireless or WiFi Settings section.
- Here, you can change the SSID (WiFi name) and password for your wireless connection.
- Click Apply/Save when finished.
Changing Admin Credentials
To enhance security, it's recommended that you change the default admin credentials used to log into your modem/router.
- Log into the modem/router’s management interface.
- Navigate to the Management or Admin section, then select Change Password.
- Enter your new username and password for accessing the modem/router.
- Click Apply/Save.
Tip
You will need to log in again using your new username and password after changing them.
